Namugongo Fund for Special Children (NFSC)
Namugongo, Uganda
Global Goods joined NFSC in 2006 to support their efforts to help orphaned and other disadvantaged children. The founder, Rosette Serwanga, having seen the impact of the AIDS crisis, wanted to create a community where all children would have access to education, health care, and basic needs, in a caring community of committed adults. It was here we first heard terms such as “double orphaned” and “child head of household”. Rosette created a breakfast program, educational scholarships, an after school support program, medical clinics, and so much more. Global Goods partnered with NFSC to develop Dream Line Africa, an income generating project for the Nakwero Women’s Group selling desirable handmade crafts. Rosette is a powerful advocate for all children and continues to adjust the programs to meet changing needs.
